CAPE BEACH BAR

INTRODUCTION

Located within the coastal setting of Didim, the beach bar at Anda Barut is conceived as a spatial extension of its natural surroundings. The project is defined by a restrained, tone-on-tone material palette where soft hues and textural variations establish a calm yet immersive atmosphere. Rather than relying on contrast, the design emphasizes continuityallowing materials, light, and space to merge into a cohesive architectural experience shaped by its proximity to the sea.

CHALLENGE

The primary challenge was to create a space that could respond simultaneously to environmental conditions and experiential expectations. Intense sunlight, coastal exposure, and the need for shaded yet permeable environments required a carefully balanced architectural approach. At the same time, the elongated linear footprint of the space and its direct relationship with the sea called for a spatial organization that could both structure and diversify the user experience without disrupting visual continuity. Establishing hierarchy, comfort, and identity within a minimal and restrained design language became a key driver of the project.

Light, structure, and sea—composed as one continuous experience.

SOLUTION

The project is structured around a strong grid system articulated through a timber pergola that forms the primary architectural shell, where a rhythmic interplay of solids and voids filters daylight and creates a dynamic, ever-changing spatial atmosphere. Organized across three distinct levels, subtle shifts in elevation define functional zones while reframing views toward the sea, allowing for a layered and continuous spatial experience. A semi-transparent three-dimensional partition system reinforces the linear character of the plan while introducing depth and providing a backdrop for lounge areas. This architectural framework is complemented by a restrained palette of soft whites enriched with natural wood elements, where material continuity and gentle contrast work together with surrounding greenery and the blues of the sea and sky to establish a calm yet immersive environment.
